Oren Little - Communications and Marketing Manager

Our time is up...

As the show opens, we on the other end of the production, now have to take stock of the effort we put into getting the message of the show out to the world. Unlike the actors and director who are working with a real event, refining and polishing the performance every time they come together, myself and Joan the producer have been working blind, organising press and media coverage and trusting that the work of Jenni, Michael and Ben will pay off. I love the first read through of a play where I get the essence of it, and then to see it polished and ready to entertain everyone who comes through the door and know that our efforts and those of the crew and cast have all paid off.

OK. Its 9 days til opening night. The BeatFM competition starts today, ads are in the papers and on WLRFM this week, Eugene O'Brien is coming down on Wednesday to watch a run of the show and for interviews. Jacqui Corcoran from RTE 1's Arena is coming in to rehearsals to record a package for transmission on Monday the 23rd May, the Red Kettle Academy have made Eden their special topic for study and are closely involved with internships and interaction with our production.  Flash, at Revolution, is rowing in with great enthusiasm to encourage his patrons to come out and see the show....Meanwhile we are in the last week of rehearsals and will be moving our set from the rehearsal room at Garter Lane into the Theatre Royal over the weekend. Everything is coming together but it is a tight schedule....get in, fit up, rig and focus on Sunday, tech on Monday and hurtling into our first preview on Tuesday night. Invitations for opening night have been posted, Catherine at Sabai is putting together some nice treats for our guests. We want to see lots and lots of people in the Theatre Royal for Eden next week, please come along...Is there anything I'm forgetting?

Oh yes, when that's all over then there is the tour. Watch this space.

Ben Barnes - Director

I love the challenge of making a piece of theatre from very little. I have always believed that the best drama comes from truthful acting and that the less there is of distraction and clutter to get in the way of that the better. In Eden we have two very good actors, three doors, two stools, a cushion, a penknife, some glasses and a few bottles. Go figure, go conjure! We’ve done the sketch of the play now, the scaffolding. And this week we are filling in the detail. I always say I never know what to  do with the beginning until I get to the end. I’m with Eliot on that- the end is in the beginning. Thus far a rewarding journey.....

Laura Honan - Stage Manager (Rehearsals)

This is a very straight forward show from a stage management point of view as the set and staging are very simple. We are moving through the piece very quickly and will have worked it through to the end by the time rehearsals finish tomorrow. Most of our props and set pieces have been decided on this week and next week we will be starting to add in the sound which will bring a new energy to the room again. Our lighting designer will also be with us next week which is important because the lighting is the most complex part of our production design. Everything is very relaxed at the moment and I’ll be leaving the production before we go to tech so the most important part of my job will not just be insuring that the show is running smoothly but also insuring a smooth transition to the next

Clair Walsh - Design Consultant

Success! Free beer! Well free non-alcholic beer. Forty bottles of free non-alcholic Erdinger, courtesy of Peter Fitzgearld the Munster Bar Waterford. Thank you very much indeed. If only it was this easy to get free stuff in real life.

Right. Lets think about Jennys character Breda's lipstick!....lipgloss?...Or lipstain?. No lipstick!...Hmm Colour?..Mulberry, Pinkcrush, Red Carpet, Dare Devil?? Im trying all of them on in Boots chemist, under the unforgiving light in the unflattering mirror. Make a decision now Clair! Im sure the staff are contemplating calling the security guard and your lips are beginning to look as though your having an allergic reaction to peanuts. Ok, No.7 Moisture Drench Lipstick in 105 Red Carpet it is. Bring it back to the rehearsal room, Cautiously jenny trys it on, she's happy, she looks great, Im happy. Success!
